Original Art For Sale

July 30, 2011

I’m going to post this for sale on Etsy. I’ve pencilled and then inked it with Pitts artist pen and Staedtler pigment liner. It’s drawn on a piece of Bristol Graphic Canson 250g/m2 measuring 15 x 21 cm.

I’ve tried to capture the characteristics of the comic. It’s was fun doing. I might do more.

And a detail…

I felt like doing some black and white drawing, so I did a sketch of Meenah to try out her outfit. I like the irregular stripes.

Make Comics Not War on my handpainted Tee

If all generals had their own webcomic with weekly updates this planet would probably be a lot nicer to live on.

I’ve had some fun making my own handpainted T-shirts. So far one for my daughter and one for me. I used pens for a central drawing and then paint to splash all over.

First I sketched with a pencil in a way that I won’t mind if it doesn’t wash away. I then used Giotto Decor textile  and Milan textile pens. It’s hard to get a clean sharp line and the felt tip gets looses fibres quite quick.  I used Panduro’s Palette to paint with. It’s thick and nice like gouache but I diluted it with water to make it easier to get that Pollock effect. The effect I ended up with was a bleed. It’s really difficult to get it to mix with water. My next project will probably exclude the pens and water and just use the paint as ink.

Aisha on My Mobile Phone

I wanted to have something nice on my Xperia so I fixed  a version of a drawing of Aisha I did some time ago. She’s wearing one of the T-shirt designs I have or had (?) in the shop.

Inked with pens and then digitally colored.

If you like it you can use it too on your phone!

GRR Update

I’m hoping to finish a page soon. It must be over a year now?  The reason for not updating is that I have a lot less time now with a soon to be one year old baby and when I finally have had time to draw I haven’t been in the mood for a whole comic page. It almost began to feel like work.

Vetres and Aisha are still at the trader’s place so there’ s not much background to do. So here’s a part of a pencilled panel just to prove that there is progress….
