Striped Dress Sketch

November 11, 2011

This started out as a sketch in the recycled series but the dress does not look as if it’s made of old rags at all. So I played around with the background making it into a foreground instead. It’s drawn with pencils and promarker for the skin and some colors of the dress.striped dress

What To Do With All The Mini Skirts In The World? “Wear-bags”!

I like to visit the second hand clothes shops. Sometimes I’m lucky like when I find a silk scarf from Moschino, no problems with size there, but usually there’s a lot of clothes that are not old enough or modern enough. So what should we do with all this stuff? That’s what I try to figure out when I do my “Recycled” drawings.

There seem to be a huge surplus of mini skirts. One way to make them a bit more useful would be to add more pockets and make a “wear-bag”.recycled mini skirt

Make Comics Not War on my handpainted Tee

If all generals had their own webcomic with weekly updates this planet would probably be a lot nicer to live on.

I’ve had some fun making my own handpainted T-shirts. So far one for my daughter and one for me. I used pens for a central drawing and then paint to splash all over.

First I sketched with a pencil in a way that I won’t mind if it doesn’t wash away. I then used Giotto Decor textile  and Milan textile pens. It’s hard to get a clean sharp line and the felt tip gets looses fibres quite quick.  I used Panduro’s Palette to paint with. It’s thick and nice like gouache but I diluted it with water to make it easier to get that Pollock effect. The effect I ended up with was a bleed. It’s really difficult to get it to mix with water. My next project will probably exclude the pens and water and just use the paint as ink.

I want a blue striped dress and orange shoes!

So instead of doing something sensible like updating a comic I have once again fiddled around with a sketch. It is just so rewarding to finish something quickly.  So here it is with two backgrounds.

For the moment I’m very fond of the shape of the small letter a, with serif and a heavy drop to finish the arc :)

Aisha on My Mobile Phone

I wanted to have something nice on my Xperia so I fixed  a version of a drawing of Aisha I did some time ago. She’s wearing one of the T-shirt designs I have or had (?) in the shop.

Inked with pens and then digitally colored.

If you like it you can use it too on your phone!
